Dr. Senesh Dissanaike Bandara (PhD, MA Research, BA Hons) is a renowned award-winning Sri Lankan filmmaker, television professional, senior academic and international level researcher specializing in film studies, media, and cultural communication analysis. Through his academic work, he has contributed significantly to the pedagogy and appreciation of cinema, visual storytelling, and media culture in Sri Lanka.
Beyond his scholarly work, Dr. Senesh has been actively involved in trade union activities on industrial values by holding the lead positions in Film Directors’ Guild and Telemakers’ Guild of Sri Lanka. He is a national scale policymaking consultant on media and curriculum specialist on communication and media studies. He also serves as the chair of national level film and television awards festivals juries over decades.
His expertise also in media management in tenures as Chairman, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, and State Cinema Board of Arts Council of Sri Lanka has positioned him as a respected voice within the academic and creative communities.
